Something I really look forward to is having my hair done. The experience of being pampered and fussed over is quite lovely. I have enjoyed the experience here in Japan as well. Of course, there were a few differences. In the U.S. you wear a simple cape over your clothes. Here when you first arrive, you put on a long cape/cover with added sleeves. While more elaborate, it does completely insure that no blobs of shampoo or tint actually ever land on your clothes.
The chairs you sit in while your hair is being shampooed here in Japan are configured differently. For example in the U.S., you lay back and down, actually quite in half whereas here, your head is the only part of your body that tilts back. I actually found that this was much more comfortable and easier on your neck and back. Very nice indeed.
I tint my hair, so I was a little concerned about the ingredients, the coverage, and how long the tint would last on my hair. Delightfully, the tint was very good all around and the bonus was that I understand there is less peroxide in the tint itself. Hooray for that!
Since arriving, my scalp has become really dry and a little itchy. I was told that it is because it IS very dry here. They gave me an oil treatment which was divine. oo la la! Much better now. I bought some shampoo and conditioner that will be more suited to my hair. They gave me a wonderful head massage during the washing procedure, ahh…..quite relaxing.
Akira, Marci, and I – all had appointments in and around the same time. A family outing you might say – Fun! Marci was so good to be an interpreter for me and therefore able to express my desire for how I wanted my hair. Everyone, there was really experienced with each of us and we have now enjoyed our “hair appointments” together several times. You can see more pictures from the salon, AS Hair on their website.
Fun, Sharon. It looks like a good time and I loved finding out that you blog!
